integrated studies Project-based Learning—
NEXT UP and UPDATE!
Our first Earth Science unit really moved us in the right direction with learning plate tectonics, earthquakes, and volcanoes. Students did an excellent job on their projects! Take a look at our awesome student work here:

Next up is Geography of North America, and students will be taking a deep dive into the physical geography of this beautiful continent. For their project, they’ll be building their choice of various landforms with salt dough (see instructions below). They’ll have a blast!
And that’s the update…Projects should be FUN…not stressful! To encourage the right approach and motivation, we’re adjusting requirements for project work and how they impact grades. From now on, Integrated Studies course projects will only count for approximately 20% of a student’s total course grade. Their quiz scores will make up the other 80%. If parents opt their student out of project work, 100% of their course grade will be determined by their quiz scores.
Students should complete the quiz each day by simply clicking on the course in their “My Day” and selecting “Take Quiz”
download- salt dough relief maps and landforms project instructions for all ages!
Project instructions are provided with detailed step-by-step instructions. Instructions can be printed or reviewed digitally. Printing is not required.
Remember, students have TWO WEEKS to complete projects. Parents, if you would like the projects to be optional, please watch the video below to learn how to save that selection.
If students complete the project and submit their work, our coaches will provide encouraging feedback and a grade. Your student (and you) can review those grades and feedback in the student gradebook. Students who complete each project will earn their respective online course badge and downloadable certificate.

math & LA minute
Math & LA are underway!! Parents, our sincerest gratitude for your efforts over the last week! From getting accounts set up in Formative, to helping your students understand the platform, and catching up on missing work. These first few weeks really help set students up for success!
We also give all our students a virtual HIGH-FIVE as they are becoming more self-governed. Learning is the goal, and completing assignments is how students show their teachers (whether it’s a parent or our teachers) what they know! Full-time students, your academic advisors will be reaching out to you over messages in September to check-in and see how you’re doing!
Still have questions or need specific help face-to-face? Schedule time with our Academic Advisors or Melanie Norman each Friday using the link on your dashboard!
