FAQ
Sharing Talents
The Variety Show is one of several chances for the youth to share their talents and gifts. It is unique in the fact that is primarily for the fun and entertaining performances. Musical numbers, dance routines, skits, and just about anything else that would be fun to watch up on stage. Once you’re registered for the retreat, we will be sending out more details on how to sign up/audition virtually.
No. To preserve the nature of sacred music, we will be having youth preform spiritual musical numbers at the beginning of the Morningsides and our Wednesday Fireside. Once you’re registered for the retreat, we will be sending out more details on how to sign up/audition for these virtually.
Discounts
Yes! This year we are offering an Early Bird discount. However, we do not currently offer any scholarships or other discounts as the retreat is only priced to cover costs.
There are so many opportunities for parents to volunteer with varying requirements. We very much appreciate parents who can volunteer, but these services are not compensated through a retreat discount.
Hosting
Yes. Host families receive $60 per youth hosted, which can be a refund if they have already purchased a ticket, or paid as a stipend if no youth are attending.
This will depend on the host family, but the minimum is 3 youth per host family. The maximum will largely depend on the host family’s vehicle size.
Yes. However both of these youth need to request being with each other in order for the request to be valid. Although this request is not guaranteed, we will accommodate where we can.

There is an application process for all host families, in which they will agree to maintain specific standards of dress, entertainment, food, sleep schedule, and transportation.
There are several requirements to be approved as a host family. If you are interested in hosting, please indicate this when filling out you registration information. If you already registered and then decided you’d like to host, you can email Holly Langston at hlangston@ahsworldwide.org and let her know.
We will group youth of the same gender and a similar age.
Food
With an additional $50 fee, we will accommodate food allergies, within reason. If we feel we can’t adequately provide the support your youth needs, we will discuss this with you and work out solutions together.
Yes. We want the youth to have a fun time choosing a restaurant and going with a group of friends. So we are asking that the youth bring money from home to pay for their own lunches this day.
We estimate that $10 to $15 should be plenty.
Volunteer
We will reach out to those parents that so kindly offered to volunteer (by indicating so in the registration process) and we’ll provide a digital sign up sheet with specific tasks and responsibilities. If parents decide they’d like to volunteer late, they can send an email to Jeni Starley at jstarley@ahsworldwide.org and let him know.

We will have several opportunities for parents to volunteer, and we would LOVE your help. Some of the volunteer jobs include food prep, food serving, set-up/clean-up for various activities/events, coordination and communication, extra supervision, etc.
Transportation
Parents or host families are responsible for getting youth up, showered, and fed before they bring them to the school each morning in time for the Morning Devotional and Gospel Study. Parents or host families will also pick their youth up at the end of each day.
We won’t be picking up or dropping off students at the airport this year. However, we will be helping coordinate hosting again for an fee of $75 per youth. So, whether you find your own hosting or we help pair you with a family, you may be able to coordinate airport rides with them.

We’ve tried to plan a variety of activities to satisfy the expectations of as many students as possible. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to cater to everyone’s specific interests, but we hope that there is enough variety throughout the day where they will look forward to the activities.
