Anatomy and Physiology Unit 3, The Incredible Immune System

So far in science this year, we’ve explored the major body systems and how they work together (Units 1 & 2)—from bones and muscles to breathing, digestion, circulation, nerves, and more. Now it’s time to meet the body’s “guardians”: the systems and senses that protect you, warn you, and help you interact with the world every day!
In Anatomy and Physiology Unit 3, we’ll learn how the immune system fights off germs and keeps you healthy, and we’ll dive into the amazing world of the five senses—sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch. We’ll discover how the senses work, why they matter, and how your body uses them to keep you safe and aware. To wrap it all up, we’ll talk about stewardship of our bodies—how we can care for this incredible gift God gave us and make wise choices that help us stay strong, healthy, and ready for whatever comes next!

Star Assessments

Mark your calendars! The Winter STAR Assessment window will open on February 16.
This adaptive benchmarking tool pinpoints exactly where your child is academically in both Math & Reading, and measures their growth throughout the school year. This FREE resource is included for all Academic Suite students; however, there may be a few limited spots for Coached Class students on a first-come, first-served basis using a waitlist. Coached students who participated in the Fall STAR will keep their reserved spot for Winter.
Be on the lookout for an email next week with all the information you’ll need for your child to take the assessment.
If you have any questions or would like to be added to the waitlist, please reach out to Melanie Norman (mnorman@ahsworldwide.org).
Flipped Class vs. Traditional Class Survey

We recently adjusted our class format and would love your input. Please take survey to help us understand our family’s preference for the traditional class format or a flipped classroom format. You may take the short survey here.
Virtual Event: Kids Got Talent!

We’re excited to announce AHS Worldwide Kids Got Talent! — a fun, kid-friendly virtual talent show happening Friday, February 27 at 1:00 PM.
Students are invited to share their talents by submitting a short video. Talents can include singing, dancing, comedy, magic tricks, sports skills, art time-lapses, LEGO creations, instruments, and more.
Video submissions are due by February 23. Upload your video here. When uploading, WeTransfer will send a verification code to your email. Please check your spam or junk folder if you do not see it right away.
On the day of the event, students will all watch the talent show together live at 1:00 PM, cheering each other on and celebrating creativity, courage, and confidence. Watch for the Zoom link in your My Day section of our student dashboard in Family School.
We look forward to celebrating our students and their talents together!
