TEFA at a Glance
Texas Education Freedom Accounts (TEFA) are state-administered education funds that eligible families may use for approved educational expenses, including private school tuition and fees and other qualifying expenses. The program is overseen by the Texas Comptroller, with Odyssey assisting with administration.

No. American Heritage Worldwide is not a government agency and does not award TEFA funds. TEFA is administered by the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts, with Odyssey assisting with administration.
American Heritage Worldwide is now an approved TEFA Private School, providing Full-Time Private school options (Grades 3-12) to those which TEFA Private School Awards.
We are also applying to provide additional offerings as a TEFA approved Vendor (K-12), to home-based families with TEFA Home-Based Awards.
No. Families may unenroll and transfer to another TEFA approved private school at any time during the school year.
However, to receive a TEFA Private School Award, families must select the private school they plan to attend in the fall by June 1, 2026.
While changes can be made later, families are encouraged to choose the school they plan to attend for the school year when completing their selection.
For the 2026–27 school year, TEFA states the private school amount at $10,474 per child for approved private school students, and $2,000 per child for homeschool students.
TEFA lists the approved private school selection deadline as June 1, 2026.
TEFA’s FAQ states funds can be used for online or out-of-state programs if the provider applies for approval and is accepted into the program.
